Assistant Professor Selda Tunç Subaşı Presents at the Interdisciplinary Women’s Studies Symposium


Assistant Professor Selda Tunç Subaşı, Director of the Center for Gender Studies, presented her paper titled “The Ethical Justification of Violence: Female Police Officers and Emotional Management in On Call” at the 2nd Interdisciplinary Women’s Studies Symposium on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Haliç University.


Assistant Professor and Director of the Center for Gender Studies, Selda Tunç Subaşı, presented her study titled “The Ethical Justification of Violence: Female Police Officers and Emotional Management in On Call” at the 2nd Interdisciplinary Women’s Studies Symposium on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Haliç University.
 
In her presentation, Subaşı will examine how violence is ethically justified in popular culture and media texts, with a particular focus on television narratives. She will explore the ways emotional management is constructed in the depiction of female police officers, analyzing how these representations shape public understanding of gender, authority, and moral responsibility.
 
The symposium brings together scholars and students from diverse disciplines to discuss current research in women’s studies. University members and all those interested in gender, media, and cultural studies are invited to attend this engaging session.
