Symposium Participation of the Director of TCCUAM Asst. Prof. Selda Tunç Subaşı


Asst. Prof. Selda Tunç Subaşı, Director of the Center for Gender Studies Application and Research, will present her paper titled “The Ethical Legitimation of Violence: Female Police Officer and Affective Management in the TV Series On Call” at the 2nd Interdisciplinary Women’s Studies Symposium to be held at Haliç University on Friday, March 6, 2026.


In her presentation, Asst. Prof. Tunç Subaşı will explore how violence is framed and ethically legitimized within popular culture and contemporary media narratives. Focusing on the representation of female police officers in the TV series On Call, she will analyze how affective management is constructed, negotiated, and normalized through gendered expectations and institutional discourses.

The paper aims to contribute to interdisciplinary discussions in women’s studies by examining the intersections of gender, power, media representation, and the moral discourse surrounding violence.
