The Pioneering Women of the Republic: A Chapter on Kâmran Birand The book The Pioneering Women of the Republic: Those Who Wrote History, Those Who Transcended Boundaries examines the lives and intellectual worlds of women who left their mark in the fields of art, literature, philosophy, history, and culture. The book also includes a chapter titled “On Kâmran Birand's Philosophical Works” written by Dr. Diler Ezgi Tarhan, Assistant Director of TCCUAM. The study examines the academic legacy of Kâmran Birand, Turkey's first female philosophy professor, and her contributions to the intellectual development of the Republic. Dr. Tarhan highlights Birand's pioneering role in the discipline of philosophy, the path she paved for female academics, and the intellectual mission she undertook during the early Republican era. This chapter, which sheds light on previous generations, draws attention to the cultural and academic heritage of the Republic.


"The book Pioneering Women of the Republic: Those Who Wrote History, Those Who Transcended Boundaries" (Cumhuriyetin Öncü Kadınları: Tarih Yazanlar, Sınırları Aşanlar), which focuses on enlightened women who contributed to Turkey's intellectual, artistic, and cultural life, has been published. The book examines the lives, intellectual worlds, and intellectual legacies of women who left their mark in various disciplines throughout the history of the Republic. In this context, the chapter titled “On the Philosophical Works of Kâmran Birand,” written by our center's Deputy Director, Assistant Professor Diler Ezgi Tarhan, is also included in the book. The study examines the academic legacy and philosophical contributions of Kâmran Birand, Turkey's first female philosophy professor.

In the chapter, Dr. Tarhan highlights Kâmran Birand's pioneering role in academia during the early years of the Republic, particularly her contributions to the discipline of philosophy and the importance of the path she paved for female academics. Birand's intellectual world sheds light not only on the history of philosophy but also on the social and cultural transformation process of the Republic.
